Once upon a time, not so very long ago, there were two young rambuncious children living with their Mommy in a teeny tiny bedroom in their grandparent's house. All was not well.
It seemed that something was always happening whether someone was sick and in the hospital, or hurt and in the hospital, or something unexpectedly bad would happen and just make life difficult. It wasn't the happiest of times by any means and no one was sure if it would ever get better.
One night Mommy stayed up worrying about her little children, their future as a family, and wondering how everyone would fair in life over time. Fairy Godmother appeared and promised to help the whole family make it through the hard times and that though things were hard and seemed hopeless, with faith and patience, it would all get better and eventually the young children would grow-up to see happy times, their memories of the hard time fading away in each until they simply disappeared. She would come and go from time to time, no one ever knowing when or why she might drop by, leaving behind treats and trinkets for the children while giving them assignments or guidance whenever they needed. The children came to know and love their Fairy Godmother, even missing her when she hadn't stopped for visits after long periods of time.
Now with the children getting quite a bit older, Fairy Godmother has one last trip and one last assignment for each. They must learn to act older, be more responsible and behave a little better. It's time they learn to tend to their chores and their homework without being asked, and ready themselves in the morning without dragging their feet, mind their manners out and about and learn when and how to speak properly to others when out in public. One of them needs to catch up with their reading and literature too, before they fall too far behind.
Fairy Godmother has one last assignment for these kids before they 'age out' of the program. If they meet their challenge, she is going to reward them with a special vacation to a magical kingdom know as "the happiest place on Earth."
The challenge for the kids is to gain RAD abilities, learn to CARE, and follow 3 simple rules. They'll get a bonus for reading one hundred books and writing a dozen reports. Trinkets and treasures will be dropped off along the way for positive progress reports...and no one can ever tell when Fairy Godmother is going to drop in for one of those!
The RAD abilities are:
Responsibility
Accountability
Dependability
To learn to CARE is to learn:
Consideration
Appreciation
Respect
Empathy
And three simple rules are:
1. Be caring in all that you do.
2. Work hard in everything, no matter the task.
3. Share and be giving to everyone; never withhold your help to one who needs it just because you don't like them.
As a bonus for reading and writing reports, Fairy Godmother will grant each child one dollar per book and report to spend on their vacation. If they read one hundred books, and write a dozen reports, she will leave a fantastic surprise for them. [A Harry Potter hardcover book set for each, Harry & Hermoine costumes and a selection of Lego Harry Potter sets as well as each book on CD. Assuming FGM can afford it.]
