We're Going To Disneyland!

Fairy Godmother made a visit the other day and guess what;  she's sending us to Disneyland! Sometime this summer. Assuming the Jr.s can follow through with her challenge.

She had a small bundle of goodies for Brother and Sister to enjoy:
  • a poster to keep track of reading
  • two small Lego sets and a minifigure each
  • a bar of yummy, yummy, milk chocolate with a gold wrapper and hundred dollar bill design
  • a second poster board with oodles of Disney stickers for the kids to decorate themselves
  • a piggy bank

Boy are they excited!

Once Fairy Godmother learns how to successfully upload her new camera's software to someone else's laptop she can post pictures...don't hold your breath. While Fairy Godmother has the day off she will compose a letter in the hopes to make some inside connection with Disneyland itself. While the Jr.s know they're going to Disneyland, and they know if they read one hundred books and write ten reports they get to spend one hundred dollars each at the park, they don't know the full extent of what Fairy Godmother has planned for them. And that's the beauty of Fairy Godmother, she can make big plans for the Jr.s but should they fall through, the smallest plans are plenty for the Jr.s to enjoy.

With Fairy Godmother's new job, Fairy Godmother hopes to be able to acquire a credit card (medical bills have made it impossible-Fairy Godmother has never had a credit card) to make reservations for the Disneyland Hotel; Ariel's Grotto; Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique; Blue Bayou. Gosh it sounds like Fairy Godmother just wants to ruin her credit but she isn't aware of any other way to make reservations without a card. She has high hopes for a craft & vegetable stand starting late spring that can bring in a small chunk of change and has an eye on Etsy for the sole purpose of bringing income to the Wonderson family just to play with.

In the meantime, she's drafting a letter to attempt to build some type of Disneyland insider connection who can help with the reservations. She would love to share her full itinerary with the Jr.s late-spring, to help build momentum but she wouldn't be so careless as to share without knowing it's a sure thing. Another reason Fairy Godmother wants to make a connection is to help make another Disney dream come true; the Jr. Imagineers & Mommy are still trying to tour Imagineering itself and take a behind-the-scenes Imagineering-in-action tour of Carsland. In fact, when the Jr.s learned Fairy Godmother was sending them to Disneyland this summer the first thing Sister asked was if she was going to give us a tour of Imagineering. That's my girl! It's a long shot, but worth the effort. Stay tuned for pictures!

Thy Fairy Cometh Tonight!

You better watch out
you better not cry
you better not pout I'm telling why!
...wait, Santa's not coming to town Fairy Godmother is and the kids don't even know it! That Fairy Godmother, she's been working hard this past week. Rumor has it she has a day job at a local nursery, starting at six in the morning pulling six days a week. She hasn't had much time to work on her challenges for the kids but she won't let this go, it's far too important. In fact, rumor has it that this is the last visit for the Jr. Imagineers by everyone from the land of childhood magic; Fairy Godmother, Toothfairy, Easter Bunny and yes, even Santa Claus. This really is a bittersweet challenge she has.

What would be really awesome is if Fairy Godmother could somehow work her magic and make some connections, so the Jr. Imagineers, and their Imagineer Mom could take a tour of the real Imagineering, and work a special VIP tour of Carsland before it opens-to watch Imagineering in action! That would make Mommy's dream come true! It would just take the right kind of connection; Fairy Godmother is going to get working on that, and she's starting with plain old snail mail and cold calls to none other than Imagineering itself, pray it goes better than young Brother's Imagineering letter last year. (anyone well connected, feel free to contact us!).

Tune in tomorrow afternoon to see what Fairy Godmother left behind for the kids.

Fairy Godmother

Once upon a time, not so very long ago, there were two young rambuncious children living with their Mommy in a teeny tiny bedroom in their grandparent's house. All was not well.
It seemed that something was always happening whether someone was sick and in the hospital, or hurt and in the hospital, or something unexpectedly bad would happen and just make life difficult. It wasn't the happiest of times by any means and no one was sure if it would ever get better.

One night Mommy stayed up worrying about her little children, their future as a family, and wondering how everyone would fair in life over time. Fairy Godmother appeared and promised to help the whole family make it through the hard times and that though things were hard and seemed hopeless, with faith and patience, it would all get better and eventually the young children would grow-up to see happy times, their memories of the hard time fading away in each until they simply disappeared. She would come and go from time to time, no one ever knowing when or why she might drop by, leaving behind treats and trinkets for the children while giving them assignments or guidance whenever they needed. The children came to know and love their Fairy Godmother, even missing her when she hadn't stopped for visits after long periods of time.

Now with the children getting quite a bit older, Fairy Godmother has one last trip and one last assignment for each. They must learn to act older, be more responsible and behave a little better. It's time they learn to tend to their chores and their homework without being asked, and ready themselves in the morning without dragging their feet, mind their manners out and about and learn when and how to speak properly to others when out in public. One of them needs to catch up with their reading and literature too, before they fall too far behind.

Fairy Godmother has one last assignment for these kids before they 'age out' of the program. If they meet their challenge, she is going to reward them with a special vacation to a magical kingdom know as "the happiest place on Earth."

The challenge for the kids is to gain RAD abilities, learn to CARE, and follow 3 simple rules. They'll get a bonus for reading one hundred books and writing a dozen reports. Trinkets and treasures will be dropped off along the way for positive progress reports...and no one can ever tell when Fairy Godmother is going to drop in for one of those!

The RAD abilities are:
Responsibility
Accountability
Dependability

To learn to CARE is to learn:
Consideration
Appreciation
Respect
Empathy

And three simple rules are:
1. Be caring in all that you do.
2. Work hard in everything, no matter the task.
3. Share and be giving to everyone; never withhold your help to one who needs it just because you don't like them.

As a bonus for reading and writing reports, Fairy Godmother will grant each child one dollar per book and report to spend on their vacation. If they read one hundred books, and write a dozen reports, she will leave a fantastic surprise for them. [A Harry Potter hardcover book set for each, Harry & Hermoine costumes and a selection of Lego Harry Potter sets as well as each book on CD. Assuming FGM can afford it.]
